Pentagon SHAKEUP – New Spokesman Announced!
(ConservativeHub.com) – President Joe Biden announced John Kirby was leaving the Pentagon to work as the National Security Council Coordinator for Strategic Communications on May 20. Since his departure, Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin has been considering his replacement. On August 4, Austin finally revealed he decided to appoint Air Force Brigadier General Patrick S Ryder to serve as the Pentagon’s new press secretary.
As soon as Kirby was out, speculation began about who would fill his shoes. When POLITICO suggested various names, Ryder’s was not among them. Still, uniformed individuals have held the post in the past.

Ryder has the background necessarily to take over the role. His current position as the public affairs director for the Air Force already has him in a public-facing communications role. He has also been a spokesman for US Command and the Joint Chiefs of Staff, according to The Hill. Austin explained the Brigadier General’s experience in the armed forces would allow him to bring unique insight to the job.
Ryder has a few weeks before he takes over the podium from acting press secretary Todd Breasseale. He is finishing up with the Air Force before making the job switch near the end of August.
