(ConservativeHub.com) – Attendees reportedly had mixed reactions to Nikki Haley’s anticipated appearance at the RNC.
As the former South Carolina Governor took the stage, many attendees cheered, while others booed.
However, any boos she received didn’t deter the former South Governor — who had been former President Donald Trump’s biggest primary rival — from giving Trump her “strong endorsement” during her appearance. After dropping her campaign for president, Haley initially did not endorse Trump, but later revealed she would be voting for him despite some of her issues with him.
The reaction to Haley was in contrast to Texas Senator Ted Cruz, Trump’s rival in the 2016 presidential election cycle. Cruz reportedly garnered a standing ovation from attendees, even from Trump.
During her time on stage, Haley impressed the importance of unity on the audience, stating that Republican voters didn’t have to “agree with Trump 100 percent of the time” to support him in this year’s race.
She added that although she doesn’t “always” agree with the former President, the two “agree more often than we disagree.”
Haley speaking at the Republican National Conference wasn’t always a sure thing. However, following the failed assassination attempt on the former President in Butler, Pennsylvania, last weekend, many members of the Republican party have moved to unite behind the presumptive GOP nominee.
Uniting behind Trump is also something Florida Governor Ron DeSantis preached during his remarks.
“Let’s send Joe Biden back to his basement,” DeSantis began his remarks, calling on his fellow Republicans to “send Donald Trump back to the White House.” The Florida Governor lauded the cost of living, border, and global respect for the United States when Trump was the country’s “commander in chief.”
