(ConservativeHub.com) – On Tuesday, May 21, former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley revealed she would be voting for former President Donald Trump in the upcoming election.
Following her first public remarks since suspending her campaign more than two months ago, Haley, was asked whether she believed Biden or Trump was stronger on national security issues.
Haley expressed her belief that although Trump’s policies weren’t “perfect,” Biden was a “catastrophe” and, therefore, she’d vote for Trump in a November rematch with Biden.
Haley made her comments during a question-and-answer session with a conservative think tank after giving an address.
The South Carolina Republican, who continues to hold up to 20 percent of the vote in the GOP’s Presidential primaries even after announcing her exit, suggested it would be “smart” for Trump to court “the millions of people who voted for me.”
Haley was the former President’s final rival in the GOP’s candidate showdown. She went up against Trump in the January New Hampshire primary through Super Tuesday in March. Only after Trump won 14 of the 15 GOP nominating contests during Super Tuesday did Haley bow out.
However, when she dropped out, the South Carolina Republican promised she would continue speaking up for the issues she supports. She declined to endorse Trump, instead saying it was up to him to “earn” the votes of the people who didn’t support him. The Biden campaign has been trying to court Haley’s followers in recent months.
In a statement to Haley’s followers, Michael Tyler, the communication director for Biden’s campaign, suggested that of the candidates still in the race, “only one” still shared Haley’s values, and that was Biden.
