NY Times Fixes Headline After Backlash Over Bin Laden Story

(ConservativeHub.com) – A total of 2,977 people died in the four coordinated September 11, 2001 attacks at the hands of former al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden’s minions. Never mind all that, though. As part of an apparent effort to get page views or perhaps shore up some book sales, The New York Times recently published a book review with a headline characterizing bin Laden as a “devoted family man.”

It didn’t take long for former SEAL Team Six member Robert J. O’Neill to post a tweet pointing out that bin Laden had used his wife as a human shield during the military operation that killed him. O’Neill should know. Reportedly, he’s the person who fired the bullet that ended bin Laden’s life in the daring raid on May 2, 2011.

The Times changed its title. However, between screen captures and the Internet Archive’s Wayback Machine, the internet never forgets a thing.

West Point graduate and Republican congressional candidate Wesley Hunt (TX) also weighed in on the headline in an August 3 tweet. He wrote that it’s no wonder Americans are “disillusioned” with news organizations these days when the once-prestigious New York Times now posts articles characterizing a “monster” as a “family man.”

The Washington Post faced similar criticism in 2019 when it posted an article with a headline calling former ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi an “austere [strict or devout] religious scholar.” After getting raked over the coals, WaPo changed the characterization to read “extremist leader.”

Maybe it’s time for America’s legacy news outlets to start prioritizing American values over their beloved page views and increasingly biased Leftist agendas.
