Officer Shot and Killed on Duty This Week, Authorities Say

(ConservativeHub.com) – Every day, cops put their lives on the line to protect and serve their communities. From writing traffic tickets to chasing down burglars, their job is rarely simple or easy. Sadly, one South Carolina police officer who dedicated his life to his position as a K-9 officer lost his life this week after responding to a domestic disturbance call.

On Sunday, April 24, Officer Roy Andrew “Drew” Barr arrived on the scene of a domestic disturbance call in Cayce, South Carolina, around 2:48 a.m. Right after he tried to speak with a man standing in front of the house, someone from inside the residence shot and killed Barr.

The New York Post shared a photo of the fallen hero:

After a seven-hour standoff, Barr’s alleged murderer took his own life. Barr had no wife or children, but peers in his department emphasized the fallen officer’s civic commitment to his town, citing how he also served as an EMT and firefighter. Barr joined the Columbia Police department in 2016 and was also a survivor of a May 2017 on-duty shooting.

Unfortunately, every police officer risks dying in the line of duty. Yet, every day, they’re willing to risk their lives for the betterment and safety of the citizens where they live and work.
