Over 20 People Injured After Terrifying Car Crash

(ConservativeHub.com) – Patrons at a New York sports bar got more than some good food and drink on the evening of January 2. Their fun and relaxing time ended abruptly when a vehicle slammed into the front of the restaurant. While nobody suffered severe injuries, 22 people required treatment for traumas they received in the incident.

The Inwood Bar and Grill in Upper Manhattan near West 204th Street became a chaotic scene after a white Audi sped away from a nearby gas station and hit a Toyota RAV4, sending the vehicle careening over the curb and into the restaurant. The identity of the Audi driver remains unknown as the person fled the scene after the accident, but the RAV4 driver, Sory Toure, who was working as an Uber driver at the time, remained until police showed up.

Video surveillance showing the aftermath of the incident ended up on Twitter. People were lying on the ground, and some witnesses were helping them as first responders arrived on the scene.

New York Police Department officials said victims mostly suffered cuts from glass shards that flew into the restaurant when the vehicle impacted the storefront. Only 19 of the 22 injured went to the hospital, including three young girls, the youngest of whom was only one year old. One of the kids, a 10-year-old, is reported to have suffered a broken leg. Hers was the most serious injury reported in the accident.

Toure told ABC7 that it was a scary experience. He thought he was going to die, but fortunately, he only had minor injuries. His passenger also escaped without serious harm.

Authorities continued to look for the driver of the Audi, as of January 3. They suspect an argument at the gas station may have prompted the Audi occupants to want to escape from that scene just before the accident. Police haven’t released any additional details about the driver or occupants of the Audi.
