(ConservativeHub.com) – On Friday, May 10, the NYPD arrested 30-year-old Shaquan Cummings, who had allegedly used a box cutter to attack an 11-year-old girl in a New York City subway station.
The man has been charged with assault, criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree, and endangering a child’s welfare. Cummings was accused of first punching another woman, 43, before attacking the young girl.
The incident occurred at around 2:18 p.m. on Friday right outside the 116th Street 6 subway station. The man allegedly used the box cutter on the girl’s ear and the back of her head while she was walking and holding her mother’s hand.
Gorzata Sladek, the girl’s mother referred to the incident as “traumatizing” and said that it was terrible to see such a horrifying thing happen to a child.
The NYPD has reported that the victim is in stable condition at the NYC Health and Hospital/ Harlem. Sladek told the The New York Post that following the attack, her daughter had to undergo surgery and required multiple stitches. She added that the young girl was emotionally unwell and no longer wanted to go outside or to school following the attack she suffered.
In the videos from the incident, the victim could be seen on a stretcher being loaded into an EMS vehicle. NYPD noted that the suspect had fled the assault but was later identified as Cummings. He was reportedly captured around a block away from where he attacked the child.
