Police Find Over 300 Gavin Newsom Recall Ballots in Felon's Vehicle

(ConservativeHub.com) – It’s not that unusual for police officers to find someone passed out at the wheel of their car surrounded by empty beer cans. However, California police officers recently made an unusual discovery while responding to a report of a man unconscious in his vehicle.

On August 16, police in the Los Angeles metropolitan city of Torrance arrested a felon they found sleeping in his car in a 7-Eleven parking lot. When they searched his vehicle, they found a loaded gun, Xanax pills and methamphetamine. They also found several credit cards and driver’s licenses that were issued in other people’s names.

In addition, they found more than 300 mail-in ballots for the ongoing recall election of California’s Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom. Police officers arrested the man on numerous charges related to weapons, narcotics, and forgery.

On August 23, the Torrance Police Department issued a statement explaining that investigators are trying to determine how the election ballots ended up in the suspect’s car and what he intended to do with them.

The Torrance PD also confirmed that new mail-in ballots would be sent to the individuals identified during its investigation and reported the incident was not related to any other instances of election ballot theft.

The Torrance Police Department’s Special Investigations Division is working to solve the case alongside US Postal Service investigators and officials working for the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Public Integrity Unit.
