(ConservativeHub.com) – Following the Hamas terrorist war that was launched against Israel last weekend, police forces in the US have been increasing security to help protect synagogues and Jewish areas in anticipation of possible antisemitic attacks.
According to the Pew Research Center, there were 7.5 million Jewish Americans in the country as of 2020. Following the recent attack in Israel, the police have moved to secure locations that they deemed to be possible terrorism targets following Israel’s declaration of war with Hamas.
Eric Adams, the mayor of New York City, slammed the attack in a statement, sayin it was a “cowardly action” that had occurred at a time when the Jewish High Holy Days were ending. He added that the terrorist organization Hamas was attempting to divide and undo the peace in the region.
He then pointed out that while at this time, there is no reason to believe that New York City is in credible threat, they would continue to communicate with Jewish leaders in all of the city’s boroughs and had already deployed additional resources in Jewish communities to ensure their safety.
Similar moves were also taken in Santa Monica, Los Angeles, and Beverly Hills, with Michel Moore, the LAPD Police Chief. Moore said on X that he knew about the “turmoil” in the Middle East and that police would be conducting additional patrols in both Muslim and Jewish communities to ensure their safety.
Miami Beach Police also announced additional police visibility across the city in strategic locations to help ensure everyone’s safety.
Following the attacks and ensuing “war” in Israel, American, United Airlines, and Delta all suspended flights to the Tel Aviv airport.
