(ConservativeHub.com) – There’s often one person in a neighborhood who feeds the local stray cats or a neighbor with just one more feline friend than most people would want to keep. But, sometimes, people take things like this a bit too far. When police recently responded to an accidental shooting in a New Hampshire home, they found a terrifying number of cats prowling around the property.
Police in Kensington, New Hampshire, arrived at a local hospital to speak with a man who accidentally shot himself while cleaning his gun. Although the shooting was an accident, the officers headed to the man’s house to ensure it was safe for him to return. Upon entering the residence, cats overwhelmed the police. That day, the New Hampshire Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals removed 67 cats from the home and brought them to the safety of a shelter. Just two days later, they rescued five more.

While investigators quickly deemed the house “uninhabitable” due to the high levels of ammonia, police only charged the man with accidentally discharging his weapon at this time. Authorities will only bring animal cruelty charges against the man if the home’s conditions poorly affected the cats’ health. For now, however, it’s safe to say caring for 72 cats is a bit much for anyone to take on, especially in just one house.
