Poll Says Over 75% of New Yorkers Worried They Could Fall Victim to Violent Crime

Over 75% of New Yorkers Concerned About Violent Crime, Poll Says

New POLL Results Released – It’s Not Looking Good

(ConservativeHub.com) – For decades, New York City attracted Americans of all sorts with its culture, opportunities, and spunk. Yet, after the COVID-19 pandemic, it seems even New Yorkers are feeling wary about life in the Big Apple. A new survey revealed falling victim to violent crime concerns over 75% of these city dwellers.

On Tuesday, June 7, Siena College Research Institute shared the results from a poll it did with Spectrum News NY1 from May 22 to June 1. The survey, which has a margin of error of 3.1%, showed that 56% of respondents believe New York City is heading “in the wrong direction,” and only 32% think it’s on the “right track.” The numbers contrast even more when it comes to violent crime statistics.

The poll results show that 76% of New Yorkers say they are “very” or “somewhat” worried they might become the victim of a violent crime like the recent subway shootings, while only 24% aren’t concerned.

Spectrum News reporter Nick Reisman shared the poll on Twitter:

New York Governor Kathy Hochul (D) signed a few gun control bills into law on Monday, June 6, in an attempt to limit mass shootings in her state, although the Supreme Court may overturn them. Still, will these laws actually make New Yorkers feel safer when going about their daily lives? Send us an email to let us know what you think!
