Jill Biden BACKLASH – She Brought This on Herself
(ConservativeHub.com) – First Lady Jill Biden hasn’t often made it into the spotlight in the past year and a half. But, after she shared comments offending the Latino community in San Antonio this week, her spokesperson had to apologize on her behalf.
On Monday, July 11, FLOTUS spoke in Texas at the UnidosUS conference about the diverse Latin community in the state, declaring it’s “as distinct as the bodegas of the Bronx, as beautiful as the blossoms of Miami, and as unique as the breakfast tacos here in San Antonio.”
Jill Biden just said Hispanics are as “unique” as tacos.
This isn’t Veep. Which White House speechwriter just won a bet for getting the First Lady to say something like this?pic.twitter.com/DXfJgYz0g5

In a response later that day, the National Association of Hispanic Journalists (NAHJ) released a statement asking the president’s wife to not “reduce us to stereotypes.”
NAHJ encourages @FLOTUS & her communications team to take time to better understand the complexities of our people & communities.
We are not tacos.
Our heritage as Latinos is shaped by various diasporas, cultures & food traditions.

The following morning, Jill Biden’s Press Secretary shared the following apology on Twitter:
The First Lady apologizes that her words conveyed anything but pure admiration and love for the Latino community.

Various lawmakers responded to Dr. Biden’s awkward comments, including Representative Mayra Flores (R-TX), who declared that “Latinos aren’t buying their liberal pandering,” and Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL), who joked he would change his profile picture to a taco to represent Biden’s words.
Comparing any group of people to food might be a bad idea, even as a simile. Do you think the FLOTUS communications team will learn anything from this recent backlash?
