(ConservativeHub.com) – Joe Manchin, the former governor of West Virginia, has announced that he is not currently running for president. During a recent radio interview with MetroNews, Manchin stated that he would only run for the White House when he was in the best position to unify the country. He did not confirm whether he would seek reelection for his Senate seat in 2024, but it is widely believed that the GOP is targeting his seat as one to flip, according to Fox News. Republican candidates, including Rep. Alex Mooney and Governor Jim Justice, have already announced their intentions to unseat Manchin if he decides to seek reelection.

West Virginia Attorney General Patrick Morrisey, who lost to Manchin in 2018, is also said to be considering another bid for the seat. So far, no Democratic candidates have announced their intentions, but this could be due to waiting for Manchin to make his decision.

Manchin was first elected in 2010 and was reelected for a second term in 2018. However, he has faced criticism from Republicans in his state for his support of President Biden’s $739 billion Inflation Reduction Act. Despite this, Manchin has not ruled out running for the White House in the future, but only when he feels it is the best way to bring the country together.

Currently, the most notable Democrat who is confirmed to be running for president in 2024 is self-help author Marianne Williamson. While President Joe Biden has repeatedly says he intends to run, he has yet to announce his campaign. Meanwhile, multiple Republicans are vying for the presidency, including former president Donald Trump and South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley.
