(ConservativeHub.com) – Radio host Charlamagne tha God criticized former President Donald Trump, calling him a “threat to democracy” and arguing that he attempted to start a coup.

“The Breakfast Club” host said that he was in agreement with actor Robert De Niro, who spoke up in New York in support of the Biden presidential campaign during a press conference last week.

In an interview with Fox News, Charlamagne argued that he was one of the individuals who had suffered from “Trump Derangement Syndrome,” and that he completely agreed with De Niro about Trump being a “threat to democracy.” He then asserted that Trump had “led an attempted coup” in the United States. This was a reference to the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol attack.

Charlamagne spoke about the allegations that Trump had tried to suspend certain parts of the Constitution in an attempt to prevent President Joe Biden from taking office. According to Charlamagne, this was, “at the least,” not at all a “patriotic thing to say.”

Fox News host Greg Gutfeld opposed this assertion, to which Charlamagne pointed out that Trump himself had made the suggestion in a post on his social media platform Truth Social in December 2022. In that post, Trump had argued that something of this “type and magnitude” required the “termination” of all the rules, including those in the Constitution.

Charlamagne argued that Trump had made these claims and then went back and denied saying them. The radio host has stated he is not a fan of either Trump or Biden, but he intends to choose the candidate who “can preserve democracy.”
