She was infamous in New York and well-loved by many who knew her. Her passing on Thursday, July 14, set off numerous well-wishes and memorials to the inspirational woman.

President Trump announced his ex-wife’s death on Truth Social, letting everyone know she passed away at her New York City home. He highlighted her as “a wonderful, beautiful, and amazing woman,” according to Fox News. Her three children, Ivanka, Donald Jr., and Eric, survive the former Mrs. Trump.

Further reports show police arrived at the 73-year-old’s apartment to find her unconscious and unresponsive at the bottom of a stairway. EMS declared her dead at the scene, and investigators believe it was an accident.

Designer Dennis Basso told the New York Post the two were “best friends” and noted her death was “absolutely devastating.” The pair often attended events and traveled together, including Christmas in Aspen. The NY Post also reported that Todd Shapiro, Ivana Trump’s former publicist, praised her as “the anchor of the Trump organization” and emphasized how she “made the Plaza Hotel into one of the most celebrated places in the world.”

The former wife of Trump was known for her independence, fierce spirit, and determination, especially after having built the American dream after leaving what’s now the Czech Republic in her younger years. May she rest in peace.
