Governor SIGNED 10 Gun Control Laws – He’s Doubling Down
(ConservativeHub.com) – Many Americans are searching for the best way to limit gun violence, especially mass shootings, as the year progresses. California is testing the theory that more restrictions will solve such a problem. According to the New York Times, California Governor Gavin Newsom (D) signed at least 10 gun reform laws in July alone.
On Monday, July 25, the NYT detailed Newsom’s intense streak of signing firearm restrictions into law. For instance, some of the new bills will limit how much advertisers can target minors with gun ads and force criminals convicted of elder or child abuse to wait 10 years before possessing a firearm.

The most controversial law, however, is focused on gun manufacturers. On Thursday, July 21, the California leader signed AB 1594, allowing local governments and California residents to sue gunmakers whose weapons cause harm.
However, the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) wrote of its opposition to the new law copying the Texas abortion restriction, stating, “There is no way to ‘take advantage of the flawed logic’ of the Texas law.”
These new laws follow after Newsom announced about $156 million in grants would go towards gun violence prevention through the California Violence Intervention and Prevention Grant Program (CalVIP).
