Report Says Iran Has Been Plotting Against John Bolton

Iranian Plot to Assassinate John Bolton Reportedly Uncovered

( – As the Biden administration works to strike a new nuclear deal involving Iran, it appears an Iranian-backed group is plotting against former US officials. The information is supposedly well-hidden because the White House wants to avoid any disruptions of its current diplomacy with the nation. Still, recent reports indicate that insiders know what’s happening.

According to an official, the US Department of Justice (DOJ) uncovered a plot to assassinate former national security adviser John Bolton. The Washington Examiner spoke with a source at the DOJ who said the agency gathered evidence against the Iranian-based Quds Force. However, they say the Biden administration’s drive to renegotiate a nuclear deal with the nation holds officials back from releasing the information or making a move.

The Iranians allegedly planned to recruit a US-based assassin to enact the plan, but the DOJ quickly became aware of the plot and dispatched extra security to Bolton. The source explained the seriousness of the situation, and said officials have been frustrated that no one has been indicted.

The plot isn’t unique as Iran has issued several threats at various former Trump administration officials who worked on issues related to the country. Former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo also reportedly received an extended security detail due to concerns over his safety.

Although the hostility may relate to Trump backing out of the 2015 JCPOA Iran nuclear accords, could sanctions and the assassination of Major General Qasem Soleimani motivate a larger portion of the animosity? In any case, the antagonism between the US and Iran, which the Biden administration wishes to ease because of the pending deal, is at the heart of Iran’s vendetta against US officials.
