(ConservativeHub.com) – The new House GOP majority will provide President Biden the opportunity to collaborate with Republicans in Congress and strike deals on key issues including immigration reforms, fiscal reforms, and the energy crisis. Former Presidents Clinton and Obama had been given similar opportunities for triangulation during their administrations, according to a report from The Hill.

Democratic strategists are confident that negotiations with the Republicans could actually improve Biden’s reelection chances, The Hill reports. This is particularly true because the deals they strike will have to take care of the border crisis and curb the flow of migrants entering illegally through the U.S.-Mexico border, as well as the handling of the energy crisis. Depending on the deals that they strike and how much bipartisan legislation will pass through the House, Biden could find himself in a better position ahead of the 2024 election.

So far, the President has said that he is willing to negotiate with Republicans and even struck a deal with centrist Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) last year on permitting reforms.

Bipartisan deals are particularly important for not only Biden but Democratic Senators as well, as they will need to secure their own positions before they have to face competitive Senate races.

According to The Hill, Jim Kessler, a former aide to Senate Majority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) said that the current situation has provided Biden with the perfect ground to reach those voters who are in the middle. He further argued that especially on border issues, a vast number of voters want a “secure and humane border.”
