Republicans Beat Democrats' Fundraising Haul in 2021

( – Running a political campaign and getting someone elected to an office costs a lot of money, which means fundraising is vital for major political parties. It also can be an indication of the support a party has.

The Republican National Committee (RNC) ended 2021 with $11.3 million in donations in December and an annual total of $158.6 million. In contrast, the Democratic National Committee (DNC) raised slightly less, with $10.7 million in December and about $157 million for the year.

The RNC did start the year with less money and ended it with $56.3 million cash on hand compared to the DNC’s end-of-year total of $65 million. However, the gains the RNC saw throughout the year boosted morale and hope that things would continue on this path into 2022. Could this be the year Republicans gain an advantage over the Democrats?

The Republicans have a fight ahead of them as they work towards wins in the 2022 midterm elections. They need five seats in the US House of Representatives to gain the majority, and in the Senate, they need just one. With the Biden White House floundering, many Republicans feel the tide is turning in favor of the GOP. Success with fundraising is another good sign of things to come.
