(ConservativeHub.com) – Florida GOP Gov. Ron DeSantis-aligned PAC fundraising efforts once again appear to be noteworthy, with $80 million of his “war chest” existing in a state political action committee, as of the end of February, The New York Times reported. Despite the fact that DeSantis has not yet announced his intentions for 2024, DeSantis has still managed to do extremely well in terms of fundraising, according to Newsmax.
DeSantis’ fundraising haul from major donors is aided by Ken Cuccinelli’s Never Back Down national PAC which has brought in another $30 million since early March. Cuccinelli previously served the Trump administration as the deputy secretary of Homeland Security.
During an interview, Republican strategist Mike Murphy pointed out that DeSantis currently is in a favorable position financially when compared to all other candidates. He added that there are many questions surrounding DeSantis’s candidate skill levels.
Newsmax reports that the $80 million involved in the Florida PAC could also end up being a challenge for DeSantis to face, as moving “soft” money donations to a president’s campaign is typically not legal.
Never Back Down Communications Director Erin Perrine, noted that DeSantis has not even confirmed that he’s running, and yet there are people from across the nation who have donated to support him. She added that if DeSantis took the final step and launched a presidential campaign, then he would be a “force to be reckoned with.”
