Ron DeSantis Unveils New Plan for Rural Communities

( – Despite the incoming Biden administration and the outgoing COVID-19 pandemic, 2021 is turning out to be a winning year for Floridians, thanks to Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis. He recently beat the CDC and paved the way for Florida’s cruise line industry to return to normal. He has consistently pushed for personal liberties in the state rather than harsh restrictions and quarantines.

On Monday, July 12, DeSantis announced that Florida’s public-private partnership group Enterprise Florida and the state’s Department of Economic Opportunity have awarded almost $30 million in grants to 42 communities to stimulate development, job creation, and infrastructure in Florida’s smaller rural communities. DeSantis unveiled the program during a press conference held at Green Cove Springs, a few miles due south of Jacksonville.

DeSantis told reporters that Florida’s rural communities are key to the state’s prosperity and wellbeing, and he is committed to making sure they thrive under his administration.

Several of the grants were awarded through Florida’s Small Cities Community Development Block Grant Program and include funding for projects like street repairs, the replacement of outdated water mains, and low-income housing repairs. The grants will also cover larger projects like renovating Bowling Green’s wastewater treatment plant, replacing Bunnell’s water drainage system, and revitalizing Carrabelle’s downtown area.

Florida is having a winning year under the decisive leadership of Ron DeSantis. No wonder he’s starting to gain national attention as a person to watch in the Republican Party.
