(ConservativeHub.com) – President Joe Biden’s campaign has been attempting to push back on rumors about him possibly withdrawing from the 2024 race, according to a recent report from The Hill.

Prominent Democrats, along with family members including First Lady Jill Biden, have expressed their support for him to continue his candidacy. Biden has also recently written to Congress members rejecting calls to step aside.

However, soon after the recent presidential debate, The Hill and other outlets have reported that if Biden were to choose not to seek reelection, several notable Democrats are considered possible candidates:

Kamala Harris

Vice President Harris, having stood by Biden and his capacity to serve another term, is the foremost candidate to succeed him. Her position as Vice President grants her significant executive experience and makes her a prime contender for future presidential runs. Despite some challenges, including a favorability rating sometimes lower than Biden’s, her improved approval ratings and stronger performance among Black voters could bolster her candidacy, The Hill reported.

Gavin Newsom

California Governor Gavin Newsom is reportedly another possible contender, known for his defense of Biden and confrontations with prominent Republicans like Governor Ron DeSantis of Florida. Although Newsom has denied intentions to run for president in 2024, his leadership in California and national visibility keep him in the conversation for future national roles.

Gretchen Whitmer

Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer has emerged as a Democratic star, winning re-election alongside significant Democratic gains in Michigan’s legislature. She has been clear about her support for Biden, despite her name being floated as a possible replacement.

Pete Buttigieg

Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, also known as “Mayor Pete,” has maintained visibility through his role in the Biden administration and significant initiatives like the bipartisan infrastructure law. His younger age and unique profile add a dynamic contrast to Biden, although his previous campaign highlighted challenges in gaining broad support among minority voters.

Josh Shapiro

Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro has quickly risen in Democratic politics, known for his moderate stance yet liberal campaign platform. His significant victory in a battleground state and vocal support for Biden highlight his potential as a key figure in the party.

JB Pritzker

Illinois Governor JB Pritzker, host of this year’s Democratic National Convention, has been a major defender of Biden. His advocacy for issues like abortion rights and his role in Illinois politics make him a significant figure within the party.

Andy Beshear

Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear has also been mentioned due to his successful re-election in a predominantly Republican state. His popularity and progressive achievements in Kentucky have raised his profile nationally.

Each of these potential candidates brings unique strengths and challenges to the table, reflecting the diverse landscape of the Democratic Party. It seems, however, that Biden does not have any intentions of stepping down.
