Supreme Court Makes Decision on Lawsuit Against Trump

( – Between election-related cases and judicial reviews of executive orders, Donald Trump has had quite the ride with the Supreme Court since he entered politics. Fortunately, he had some good news from SCOTUS this week.

On Monday, February 22, the Supreme Court chose not to hear arguments in a defamation case brought by Stephanie Clifford, aka Stormy Daniels. That decision leaves a ruling favoring Trump from the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals intact.

Daniels claimed she had an affair with Trump years ago and was reportedly threatened by a stranger to keep quiet about it. In 2018, she released a sketch of the man during an appearance on ABC’s “The View.”

Trump posted a tweet accusing her of lying, and she sued him for defamation in the US District Court for New York. The case was subsequently transferred to California, where it was dismissed. The 9th Circuit affirmed the ruling, and she filed an appeal to the Supreme Court.

California US District Court Judge S. James Otero already ordered Daniels to pay hundreds of thousands of dollars in legal fees in 2018. Filing a petition with the Supreme Court can be costly as well.
