(ConservativeHub.com) – Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) and other frequent social media users had a bit of fun this week roasting PETA, the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, for its latest Twitter post. PETA has a long-standing reputation for their over-the-top beliefs regarding animal rights and some of their practices promoting their beliefs. The organization frequently resorts to tactics designed to shock people into adopting their values.
PETA took to its Twitter account on January 26, asking people to “create a more inclusive world” by ending the “supremacist” practice of using animal names as derogatory statements about humans. For instance, PETA pointed out the use of the word “sloth” to indicate laziness.
Words can create a more inclusive world, or perpetuate oppression.
Calling someone an animal as an insult reinforces the myth that humans are superior to other animals & justified in violating them.

As one might expect, the internet was quick to respond to PETA’s post — and many individuals were not amused in the slightest. Noted life coach and author Michelle Elman posted a photograph of a PETA sign comparing overweight women to whales. Another individual posted a shocking meme from a PETA campaign connecting the use of dairy products and autism.
Others, like Cruz, took a more tongue-in-cheek approach:

Whatever side of the fence one might fall on regarding PETA, it’s refreshing to see Sen. Cruz use a bit of humor to defuse an awkward social media post.
