(ConservativeHub.com) – The GOP is in the midst of a power struggle between those who support former President Donald Trump and those he thinks aren’t loyal to him. Lines are being drawn with figures like Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) and Sen. Mitt Romney (R-UT) on one side and House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) and Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) on the other.
Cruz met with Trump at his Florida residence at Mar-a-Lago on Tuesday, May 4. He posted a photograph of the two of them on his Twitter account later that night.
Had a great dinner tonight with President Trump at Mar-a-Lago.
He’s in great spirits! We spent the evening talking about working together to re-take the House & Senate in 2022. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸 pic.twitter.com/OdtUBxHGSn

The former president was in “great spirits,” according to Cruz. He certainly looked happy in the photograph Cruz posted. He also related that the two discussed the upcoming 2022 midterm elections and how they can work together to take back the House and Senate.
Republicans need to win only one additional seat in the Senate to take control of the chamber. As of May 6, Democrats control 218 House seats, Republicans hold 212 and there are currently 5 vacancies.
