All Aboard Wisconsin-Bound Plane Survive Terrifying Crash

(ConservativeHub.com) – The life of a rescue dog can be rough. Due to overpopulation issues, waiting for a forever home can take a long time. But for 53 pups in Wisconsin, a blessing may have come in the form of a near-death experience.

It was a terrifying scene at the Western Lakes Golf Club on November 15. A plane crash-landed near the fifth hole and slid all the way to the third. Its wings had sheared off in the trees. Three people and 53 rescue dogs were onboard, traveling as part of a Humane Animal Welfare Society (HAWS) program. Miraculously, everyone survived, and there were no life-threatening injuries.

But the media coverage of the crash might bring good news for the canines. One of them found a home only minutes after the plane went down. Deputy Fire Chief Tony Wasielewski responded to the scene and met a pup that claimed his heart as he removed crates from the downed aircraft. He is now the proud owner of CeeCee, who he renamed Marley.

HAWS noted 19 others also quickly found new families by the end of the day on November 24. According to ABC News, shelter front desk manager Stephanie Deswarte said that while it isn’t usually their policy, they gave first responders the chance to adopt first due to the uniqueness of the situation.

The trip was part of a HAWS plan to help curb the out-of-control population issues with the species. They move dogs from overcrowded southern shelters to those in Wisconsin participating in spay and neuter campaigns. Usually, the group transports via vans twice monthly, but flights occasionally happen. The Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board continue investigating the accident; the cause of the crash remains unknown.
