Republican Event THREATENED – FBI Steps In!
(ConservativeHub.com) – Tampa police took a 19-year-old into custody after he allegedly made threats of violence against the Turning Point USA Student Action Summit (SAS). The event featured top conservative speakers, including former President Donald Trump and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R). The FBI also worked on the investigation.
The Texas teen, Alejandro Richard Velasquez Gomez, became the subject of an FBI investigation when the Phoenix branch of the Bureau discovered concerning social media posts and reported the situation to the San Antonio branch. Agents determined the 19-year-old was a credible threat after reading a public message he wrote on July 18, saying July 22, the first day of the SAS, was a day of reckoning and revenge. After further exploration, the agency discovered he bought a plane ticket from Austin to Tampa for July 22 and had alerted Turning Point USA to his plans to attend the conference.
Prosecutors say Alejandro Richard Velasquez Gomez, 19, of San Antonio, posted threats on social media to carry out “a day of retribution” and “revenge against all of humanity” targeting attendees.https://t.co/FDBNO8N1Ss

While details about Gomez’s motives are still unclear, the FBI found parallels between his actions and those of Elliot Rodger, who went on a killing spree in 2014 in California and became a figure within the involuntary celibate (incel) community. The incel movement encourages anger towards women and sexually active individuals and pushes for violence against those groups. The teen admitted to emulating the 22-year-old, according to Fox News.
The Tampa police arrested Gomez on July 21, and he remained in custody as of August 21. Pending charges include sending threats, a second-degree felony. The FBI also secured a warrant to search his residence and took electronics. They discovered child pornography on a device, bringing the suspect additional charges.
