Tom Cotton Attacks Democrats for Passing Dangerous Spending Bill

( – Democrats managed to force their $1.9 trillion COVID-19 relief bill through the Senate by a vote of 50 to 49 with no Republican support on Saturday, March 6. Anticipating passage in the Democratic-led House, President Biden gloated about the vote later that day.

Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) quickly responded by posting a series of tweets blasting Democrats for providing economic relief to criminals. “Democrats just voted” to give money to criminals in prison who don’t have to worry about paying for bills or housing, he tweeted.

Following up, he posted a series of three tweets citing examples of infamous inmates who will receive $1,400 relief checks. His first tweet named mass murderer Dylann Roof, who killed nine African-Americans at a Charleston Church in 2015 in hopes of igniting a race war.

The second one named Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, who murdered three people and injured about 280 others at the Boston Marathon in April 2013. Cotton’s final tweet discussed Aaron Shamo, the head of a drug trafficking organization convicted of selling “1 million fentanyl-laced fake oxycodone pills” to unsuspecting buyers in all 50 states.

On the plus side, the relief bill does provide relief payments to most working-class Americans, funds for COVID-19 testing and vaccines, and assistance for schools.
