(ConservativeHub.com) – Sen. Joe Manchin, D-W.Va., during an April 2 interview on NBC News’s “Meet the Press,” stated that he would not be making a decision on whether he would run for Senate or the White House until the end of the year.

Manchin is a moderate Democrat who has been known for clashing with members of his own party on a number of occasions. However, he has so far refused to state whether he will seek reelection in the Senate next year or if he will be launching a campaign for the Oval Office. If Manchin chooses to run for reelection in the Senate, he could have a tough race ahead of him as he is in a Republican-leaning state.

He noted during his interview that his “filing date is Jan. 15 in 2024,” and he is expecting to make a decision before that day. He added though that he would not be making a final decision until the current year draws to a close. Host Chuck Todd questioned him about whether he was planning on running as a Democrat next year, but Manchin said that he was not going to change because of “the party identification.” He added that people should not change due to their party affiliation. This was why he would continue to fight for issues as he has done so far.

He proceeded to state that his “political ambitions” are in helping the US “work together” and not act as separate states. He indicated he would continue trying to be a moderate voice that will help both sides see reason when necessary.
