(ConservativeHub.com) – Donald Trump’s ally, Ex-Rep. Lee Zeldin, who lost during the 2022 gubernatorial election against Governor Hochul (D), introduced on Monday Florida Governor DeSantis (R) at his first event in his three-stop tour speaking to New York’s law enforcement.

During the Staten Island event, Zeldin said that Florida has “an exceptional governor” who has been working for years to bring about positive change in the state. He added that DeSantis had been actively fighting against having pro-criminal laws pass in Washington, D.C., and he has been working on ensuring prosecutors are completing their job well.

There has been much buzz in the media that DeSantis may be preparing to place a bid on the White House in 2024. This could potentially put him directly against former President Trump during the 2024 GOP primary race. It is anticipated that DeSantis will not announce his decision regarding the presidential race until late May or early June.

Having Zeldin introduce DeSantis is particularly notable, as Zeldin has been a vocal ally and supporter of Donald Trump. However, his presence in DeSantis events could be viewed as an indication that Trump’s most ardent supporters are still considering who they will support during the 2024 presidential race, according to The Hill.

The only Republicans who have announced their campaigns are Trump, former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley, and entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy. However, it is speculated that the primary race will become quite crowded with many prominent GOP members potentially joining including former VP Pence, former Sec. of State Pompeo, former Maryland Governor Larry Hogan, former Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson, South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem, and Senator Tim Scott.
