Trump REACTS After Cancellation – Look What He Said!
(ConservativeHub.com) – In an email statement, the Interior Department said that it would not continue with the Cook Inlet OCS oil and gas lease in Alaska, according to a May 12 Axios report. The outlet also confirmed the cancellation of oil and gas leases in the Gulf of Mexico. According to Newsmax, after hearing this news, former President Donald Trump expressed his disbelief on his social media platform, Truth Social.
Trump blasted Biden online for the cancellation of the lease in Alaska, saying that it would help make the US less reliant on foreign products and bring in much-needed money for the industry. The former president also pointed out the high prices of gas, saying it’s “not even believable” that the Biden administration decided to cancel.
"Not even believable that Joe Biden cancelled a major Alaska oil lease where not only big dollars would be made by the U.S., but also massive amounts of oil would be produced when gasoline is at the highest price ever," Trump posted on "Truth Social." https://t.co/BYLNpD1WmW

According to the Interior Department Statement, the Alaskan lease was canceled due to a “lack of industry interest in leasing in the area.” The Gulf of Mexico leases reportedly suffered multiple delays, which resulted in their cancellation as well.
Newsmax reported that Trump has often talked about how his administration worked toward making the US more energy independent and keeping prices low. During the 2020 presidential campaign, he often remarked on how damaging Biden’s policies would be for the US energy industry and the American people. He even predicted huge price jumps for oil and gas and potential shortages.
Meanwhile, President Joe Biden has faced backlash from critics for pointing the finger at Russian President Vladimir Putin’s attack on Ukraine for the current situation. The senior vice president of the American Petroleum Institute, Frank Macchiarola, told Newsmax the administration’s policies restrict the industry. He urged the White House to implement a five-year federal offshore leasing program.
