(ConservativeHub.com) – Trump slammed former House Speaker Paul Ryan on Sunday after the latter said that he would not attend the 2024 RNC if Trump won the GOP nomination in 2024.

Ryan, a Wisconsin Republican who led the House of Representatives from 2015 to 2019, has always had a tense relationship with the former President despite the two having a close collaboration during the first half of the Trump administration, according to Newsweek. Ryan is also one of the Republicans who has pushed the GOP to move on from Trump in the 2024 presidential election. Still, Trump maintains the support of a significant number of Republican voters and is currently leading multiple polls regarding the 2024 presidential election.

Ryan specifically said that his attendance would depend on who the nominee was and that if it was “not somebody named Trump” then he would attend.

Trump, following this comment, took to Truth Social to criticize Ryan and blame him for Senator Mitt Romney’s unsuccessful 2012 presidential run. Ryan was Romney’s running mate but they lost to then-President Barack Obama who had been seeking reelection.

Trump wrote in his post that Ryan is “a loser” and that if it weren’t for him Romney would have won. He added that Ryan is “destroying Fox.” In his post, Trump also made a reference to his unsubstantiated claims regarding the 2020 presidential election which he has frequently stated was stolen from him.

Ryan also questioned whether Trump would be able to perform well in the general elections, following the 2022 midterm elections when many of Trump’s endorsed candidates failed to perform well in the general election despite winning the 2022 GOP primaries.
