(ConservativeHub.com) – Former President Donald Trump called former Vice President Mike Pence an “honorable man” on Friday after Pence received a subpoena. According to Fox News, the subpoena came from none other than the Department of Justice Special Counsel Jack Smith, who is looking into the classified documents scandal and the events of January 6, 2021.

Trump made this comment shortly after news of the subpoena dropped. While speaking to Fox News, he also asked questions about points of interests he felt should be looked into as part of the investigation.

Attorney General Merrick Garland appointed Smith as special counsel in the two cases related to former President Donald Trump after Trump launched his presidential campaign for 2024. The two investigations deal with Trump’s role in the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol attack, and the potential mishandling of the classified material that had been found in Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home.

The CNN report on the subpoena states that it includes requests for documents as well as Pence’s testimony regarding the events of Jan. 6. Trump had at the time pushed for Pence to block the certification of the election. He had even taken to Twitter after the fact, claiming that Pence didn’t have the courage to do what was necessary.

While the two men have in recent years not had the best relationship, Trump defended Pence as soon as the information about the former Vice President having classified documents in his possession came out. According to reports, he took to Truth Social in late January to call Pence “innocent” and proclaim that he’d never done anything “knowingly dishonest.”
