(ConservativeHub.com) – Former President Donald Trump and his ex-UN Ambassador Nikki Haley are both set to speak during the CPAC this week. This further highlights the current conflict within the GOP.

This event will be the first time that the two appear at the same function since Haley first launched her presidential campaign earlier this month, according to The Hill. According to reports, Haley is expected to speak on February 3, while Trump will be speaking the next day. The two are currently the only major Republican 2024 contenders who are set to now hold speeches promoting their candidacy during the CPAC. The outlet notes that most Republicans don’t expect them to target each other directly during the event, although it could prove to be a display of tensions in the party.

The Hill reports that one longtime Republican consultant has stated that there are many “next-generation candidates” and that Haley is going to attempt to “tactfully” make her case that this election is about choosing between the older generation of leaders and the younger generation who “are changing the world.” They added that the CPAC is going to be interesting as the two have two very different personalities.

Trump is still considered a popular choice in the GOP’s presidential nomination race, however, a growing number of Republicans are also starting to question whether Trump holds the appeal he once did following the underwhelming performance of the GOP in 2022. Many in the GOP, including Haley, are calling for new leadership. This has so far become a primary issue that Haley is pushing for, which she is expected to reiterate during her CPAC speech.
