Uvalde Schools Police Chief RESIGNS From City Council – He’s Done!
(ConservativeHub.com) – On May 24, tragedy struck the town of Uvalde, Texas, when a rogue gunman killed two teachers and 19 students at Robb Elementary School. Soon after, intense criticism came down on the head of the school district’s police force after state police officials blamed him for officers’ slow response to the active shooter. In response to these accusations, the chief resigned from his position on the City Council.
On June 22, the Uvalde school police force placed Pete Arredondo, the chief of the school district police force, on administrative leave after repeated demands from the community and victims’ family members for him to step down. These calls came less than a month after his closed-door swearing-in service on May 31, just a few days after police officers took over an hour to confront the active shooter who terrorized the town’s elementary school.
On Saturday, July 2, the Uvalde Leader-News published an announcement from the police chief notifying the town he was resigning from the City Council and noting he hopes the decision will help the city “move forward without distractions.”

Arredondo continues to deny responsibility for the poor police response, emphasizing that he did not think he was in charge of the operation. But, the public is still waiting for additional information from body camera footage and radio or phone communications during the event to shed more light on who was responsible for the slow response. For now, officials have chosen not to release the information as the investigation unfolds.
