(ConservativeHub.com) – On March 29, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre stated that it was “shameful” and “unacceptable” for certain members of the GOP to claim that Congress has made all the moves possible to address gun violence following the deadly shooting incident at a Christian school in Tennessee.

The Hill reported that while speaking with reporters, Jean-Pierre claimed that it was “unacceptable” to have Republicans claim that there was nothing further that they could do when “our schools, our churches, our places of worship” are now dangerous places for US citizens. She then proceeded to question whether Republicans would explain to the loved ones of the victims in the recent shootings in Nashville, Buffalo, N.Y., and Uvalde, Texas, that there were no further actions that Congress could take. She then encouraged Republicans to “show some courage” and introduce legislation that would put a ban on assault weapons.

She continued to claim that if they possessed “courage,” that would have been the action that they had taken on that same day and yet, so far, they have been unwilling to do what needed to be done. She called it “shameful.” Her condemnation came after several Republicans, including Rep. Tim Burchett (R-TN) and Sen. Mike Rounds (R-SD) indicated that they had done all they could or were willing to do to address gun violence.

Following the school shooting last week, which resulted in the deaths of three kids, all age 9, and three adults, President Biden has continued to push for Congress to approve a ban on assault weapons. He further noted that he had done as much as he could on his own and that it was now up to Congress to take action.
