Will the DOJ Disrupt GOP’s Hunter Biden Probe Plans?

(ConservativeHub.com) – House Republicans have often spoken about their intention to have Hunter Biden, son of President Biden, investigated. However, their plans for a probe have the potential to be disrupted by the Department of Justice, POLITICO reports.

The Justice Department, which is led by Attorney General Merrick Garland, is currently looking into any potential crimes concerning Hunter Biden. This could lead to problems with the GOP if the two investigations appear to have any overlap. More importantly, if the Department of Justice determines that Hunter Biden should be indicted, this could “close off certain investigative paths,” according to the outlet.

While this might not have originally been a problem, the GOP has frequently promised that they would investigate Hunter Biden. In fact, these investigations were one of the biggest priorities for the GOP now that they had control of the House.

Oversight Committee Chair James Comer (R-Ky.) in a recent interview with POLITICO said that he believes the DOJ should wait to go after Biden until Republicans finish their own investigation. He also acknowledged that if criminal charges came out, then the probes could be hindered, especially as any witnesses in the DOJ case would be given the right to assert their Fifth Amendment rights throughout the investigation.

However, the GOP chair did disclose that if the DOJ decided to proceed with an indictment against the President’s son, there were other members of the Biden family that the Republican party could focus on, especially as all evidence relating to Hunter Biden would effectively be frozen up.
