(ConservativeHub.com) – According to a report from Fox News, a woman in North Carolina used her firearm to fatally shoot a man during a road rage incident that occurred in the parking lot of a grocery store.
Lorrin Freeman, the Wake County District Attorney, told ABC 11 in an interview that it was vital for people to understand that the law’s provisions allow people to protect themselves if they have a reasonable reason to believe that they might be at risk of bodily injury or imminent death. However, it does not provide them with the right to “vigilante justice.”
The 49-year-old man, Steven McLamb, was shot outside a Food Lion store in Raleigh on August 1. According to the authorities, the footage from the incident shows McLamb acting as the aggressor as he tried to open the woman’s car door. In response, she shot him.
Freeman argued that McLamb acted as the aggressor as he had followed others into the parking lot. McLamb allegedly exited his car and tried to get into the woman’s car which is what led to the armed woman acting in self-defense and shooting him.
The situation stemmed from a road rage incident, according to the different footage and witness interviews that law enforcement officers have been able to gather. The footage along with the witness testimonies have allowed them to get a fairly good idea of what occurred.
The woman who has remained unidentified is the firearm’s legal owner and does not have a criminal history. Reports say she will not be charged for the shooting.
