(ConservativeHub.com) – In nearly every community around the country, parents entrust daycare facilities with their little ones every day. From eight weeks to a few years old, much of the raising of the next generation rests in the hands of these trusted caregivers. However, one family lost confidence in the system after a minor who lives at a Michigan daycare center put their child into the dryer and turned it on.
On November 16, the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA) announced it suspended Kathleen Mayhue-Radeback’s family child care home license. Mayhue-Radeback has run a daycare since 2019 in Garden City, Michigan. It turns out she brought a “minor household member” to the ER in August, telling a registered nurse she was “stressed out” after the minor put a child into the dryer during daycare.
Fox 2 Detroit shared the news as it broke:

Thankfully, the child placed in the dryer came out unscathed, but she did tell her parents it was “hot,” “dark,” and it “hurt my back.” On top of this blatant lack of appropriate care and supervision, Mayhue-Radeback didn’t alert authorities to the incident within three days, violating LARA’s rules for running a daycare.
Perceptive social workers caught on to what was happening during the ER visit and followed through with an investigation. This case simply goes to show it’s incredibly important to know who’s with your child, whether they have proper licensing, and what the supervision looks like on a day-by-day, hour-by-hour basis.
