Woman Allegedly ROBS a Bank – To Get Her Own Money???
(ConservativeHub.com) – Three years ago, a financial crisis hit Lebanon, leaving its citizens in enormous difficulty while trying to make ends meet. Many banks limited their patrons to withdrawals of only $200 per week, making it tricky to pay large bills or purchase significant items. Recently, one woman struggling to pay her family’s medical bills took matters into her own hands when she broke into her bank with a toy gun to retrieve her savings.
On Wednesday, September 14, a woman allegedly broke into BLOM Bank in Beirut, Lebanon, with a toy gun alongside other activists from the group Depositors’ Outcry and demanded her money. Lebanese media station Al Jadeed reported the woman as Sali Hafiz, who said during a Twitter video she was trying to retrieve her own savings at the bank to pay for her sister’s cancer treatment.

Robbers left the bank with $12,000 in US cash and enough Lebanese pounds to equal around $1,000. Many Lebanese citizens celebrated Hafiz’s actions on social media, according to a report from CBS News. Nearby, a man associated with the activist group broke into a bank in the mountains, but authorities arrested him before he stole any money. These incidents are becoming more common in Lebanon.
Hafiz said she was on the brink of selling a kidney to help her sister before deciding to take $13,000 of her $20,000 savings from the bank.
