(ConservativeHub.com) – SCOTUS Justice Alito, who was author of the Supreme Court’s majority ruling in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization which led to the overturning of Roe v. Wade in 2022, stated that he was fairly confident he knew who the leaker of the draft opinion was.

While speaking with two WSJ opinion writers, Alito stated that the leak of the draft opinion in the abortion-related case, a number of weeks before the final ruling was announced, had led to significant “suspicion and distrust” across the nation.

According to The Hill, Chief Justice Roberts had called for the court’s marshal to start a probe in order to determine who was responsible for the leak. However, it was announced near the beginning of 2023 that the investigation did not yield any results and that they had not yet determined who was the source of the leak.

In June of 2022, SCOTUS struck down Roe in a 5-4 decision on the Dobbs case. Roberts ultimately voted in favor of upholding Mississippi’s 15-week abortion restrictions. However, he did end up disagreeing with the decision to overturn Roe v. Wade.

In an interview, Alito spoke about the investigation, claiming that the marshal had done “a good job” operating with the use of resources he had available. However, they didn’t have enough evidence for a suspect to be officially named.

He proceeded to say that “I personally have a pretty good idea” of who made the leak, but that proof is required before any names can be divulged.
