(ConservativeHub.com) – On Tuesday, March 12, The New York Times reported that Independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. was considering Aaron Rodgers, the New York Jets quarterback, as one of his preferred running mates. He is reportedly planning to reveal his decision this month.
During the interview, Kennedy said that Rodgers, as well as former Minnesota Gov. Jesse Ventura, were on his list of possible options for candidates who could join his 2024 presidential ticket. Fox News Digital also confirmed with Kennedy’s spokesperson that Rodgers was on the list.
The New York Times reported that Kennedy had been considering a number of individuals for the role. Kennedy was reportedly considering as part of his list several 2020 presidential candidates, along with former Democratic Rep. Tulsi Gabbard of Hawaii, and Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.). However, Rodger and Ventura are the only people who have been receptive to his approach. Kennedy is expected to reveal his running mate on March 26.
Rodgers, 40, played for the Green Bay Packers for 18 seasons before he ended the 2023 season with the Jets. Early into the season, he ruptured his Achilles tendon which resulted in him only playing four times in the season.
Rodgers had previously endorsed Kennedy and used the hashtag “kennedy2024” on social media. Last month, he was also part of a photo that Kennedy had posted of the two of them hiking as Rodgers continues his recovery.
The New York Times reported that Rodgers and Kennedy have been frequently in contact recently, and that Kennedy has been in touch with Ventura as well. However, according to the outlet, Ventura’s son stated that he has not been officially asked to accept the role at this time.
