The debate over whether transgender athletes should be allowed to compete in sports based on their biological sex or the gender they identify with has become a central point of contention in the United States in the last few years. Trans swimmer Lia Thomas’ participation in the women’s swim team for the University of Pennsylvania last year resulted in a lot of controversy. Thomas was the first individual to be openly transgender and win an NCAA Division.
Many conservatives have expressed opposition to the inclusion of transgender women in sports. Caitlyn Jenner, who came out as transgender in 2015 and had previously won the 1976 decathlon, has also expressed criticisms relating to this.
On Monday, November 27, the trailer for Lady Ballers was made available. The film was set to be released on DailyWire+ late last week, dealing with the inclusion of transgender women in female sports.
Jeremy Boreing, who directed and is starring in the film, claimed on X that Hollywood would not create a movie about how “absurd” it was to have “grown men” compete as women in women’s sports.
The movie centers on a high school basketball coach who decides to create a team of men who pose as women in an attempt to turn the team’s fortunes and allow them to win.
