(ConservativeHub.com) – Following the recent reports, both the offices of past Presidents Barack Obama and Bill Clinton have noted that all the classified documents they had were already in the hands of the National Archives. They further added that all of the documents had been handed over when they left office.
These statements come only a few days after it was revealed that classified documents were also found in Vice President Mike Pence’s residence. According to The Hill, both Clinton and Obama’s offices reassured everyone that all of their classified material had gone to the National Archives and Records Administration.
The outlet noted that Freddy Ford, chief of staff to former President Bush, also previously stated that when Bush left office, all of the documents, whether classified or unclassified, had been returned to the National Archives.
President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump are currently at the center of two investigations relating to the classified documents found in their possession.
Trump’s classified documents were found in his Mar-a-Lago estate following an FBI raid, while President Biden had willingly handed over the classified documents that had been discovered in his former office and his Delaware residence.
Attorney General Merrick Garland has chosen special counsels to oversee the two cases. Robert Hur will act as special counsel in Biden’s case and Jack Smith will be the special counsel in Trump’s case.
Pence is the third person to reveal that he will have access to classified material. It is uncertain how his case is going to be investigated and handled.
