Professional Racer Chases Alleged Thieves

( – Carlos Sainz Jr., a notable Formula One driver, recently confronted a group who reportedly swiped his high-end watch, following his inaugural podium finish this season in the Italian Grand Prix in Milan.

The 29-year-old Sainz was captured on numerous social media clips, appearing out of breath, as local authorities detained an individual believed to have taken the Ferrari racer’s Richard Mille watch.

Alongside one of his crew, Sainz pursued and eventually nabbed the trio who are believed to have snatched his watch close to Milan’s Armoni Hotel, as per the Italian publication, la Repubblica.

According to Fox News, ESPN estimated that the value of the timepiece stands around $540,000.

Addressing the situation on X (previously known as Twitter), Sainz stated that what was important was that everybody involved turned out safe and that the situation would be remembered as an unfortunate one.

He added an expression of his gratitude to those who helped out, particularly the police and those who left encouraging messages.

This event occurred shortly after Sainz secured his season’s first podium position with a third-place achievement at the Italian Grand Prix. Notably, he topped the charts in two of the three practice runs and started the race from the front.

Reflecting on the race, Sainz remarked on X about his competition with Ferrari co-driver, Charles Leclerc. He noted that it was a hard race, but that it was always enjoyable racing against Leclerc.

According to Fox News, this incident comes after a previous occurrence involving Leclerc, who had his luxury timepiece taken in Viareggio, a coastal region in Tuscany, in April 2022.

Reports from then suggest two individuals approached Leclerc pretending to ask for a photograph but then dashed away on a motorbike with his Richard Mille watch. Surveillance showed Leclerc in pursuit, and as of this year, four individuals linked to that theft have been apprehended.
