( – Arnold Schwarzenegger, the “Terminator” actor, and former Republican governor in California, has stated that it is a “no-brainer” for California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) to eventually try to win the White House.

During an interview with the Hollywood Reporter which was released on May 16, Schwarzenegger stated that every governor serving in a big state is looking to eventually “take that shot.” He proceeded to argue that especially with Newsom’s performance as governor, it would be an obvious choice for him to eventually place a bid for the White House.

When asked about Newsom’s performance more explicitly, Schwarzenegger claimed that once you are “part of the club,” you don’t pass criticism on other governors because you know how tough the work is. He argued that it is impossible to please everyone and that even he had an 80 percent approval rating before announcing he would run for the position, which immediately dropped to 43 percent after the announcement. He stated that half of those people had even said that they would not be watching any of his movies again.

He added that while he would do certain things differently as a Republican, he does not criticize Newsom for not doing things his way.

Newsome has dismissed suggestions that he is aiming to eventually place a bid on the White House. However, according to The Hill, he’s gained a significant amount of attention through his feud with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. The media has been filled with rumors that DeSantis intends to announce a presidential bid.
