(ConservativeHub.com) – “American Idol” alum and daytime talk show host Kelly Clarkson told former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton that she considered the recent abortion ruling in Arizona “insane” and argued that the country was moving “backwards.”
On Monday, April 15, during Clinton’s appearance on Clarkson’s show, Kelly Clarkson asked her whether she expected something like this to happen while she was alive. Clarkson added that it was crazy to her that the court’s decision reverts them back to 1864 when the world was significantly different.
Last week, Arizona’s Supreme Court in a ruling upheld an 1864 law that designated performing an abortion a felony offense. The legislation does include a small exception for cases where it would be considered necessary in order to save the life of someone who is pregnant.
Clinton, who agreed with Clarkson, said that the law was “horrifying” in every way that this was something she had feared would occur but had been hopeful that it would not happen. She added that now they were in a very hard period for women, arguing that in around half the states in the country, women cannot access the care they require.
These statements were made during a preview clip from Clinton’s appearance on “The Kelly Clarkson Show.”
Clinton proceeded to indicate that the ruling was cruel due to the lack of exceptions for other extreme situations.
Clarkson argued that this was especially hard and that this move could potentially “literally kill” women.
