(ConservativeHub.com) – In a recent interview, former President Trump once again targeted Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R), giving him a new nickname that resembles a nickname he had previously used for North Korean leader Kim Jong Un in 2017.

During the “Full Send Podcast,” Trump said that he should call DeSantis “Rocket Man,” but right now he is “Rocket Man that’s crashing.” He proceeded to state that DeSantis is performing very badly in the polls and that Trump is leading in every single state.

Previously, during his presidency, Trump had often called Kim Jong Un, “Little Rocket Man” despite the fact that he claimed that the two of them got along “really well.”

His jabs at DeSantis relate to the recent polls about the 2024 GOP primary election, in which the Florida governor is still often trailing behind Trump. While DeSantis has not yet announced the presidential campaign, he is currently the only Republican candidate widely considered to be a serious challenge to Trump. A recent Wall Street Journal poll showed that Trump’s lead on DeSantis increased to 13 points. Other GOP candidates such as former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley and Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC) polled in the single digits.

During the podcast episode, Trump once again took credit for DeSantis being elected in the 2018 gubernatorial election, claiming that he was “dead politically” and that had it not been for Trump’s endorsement he would have failed. Trump said that at the time, DeSantis “was losing by like 25, 30 points very shortly before the election” and that after the endorsement “he went like a rocket ship.”
