(ConservativeHub.com) – On May 24, former President Trump took to his social media platform, Truth Social, to slam Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’s (R) campaign launch calling it a “catastrophe” and “disaster.” The governor made his announcement on Twitter during an interview with Twitter CEO Elon Musk. However, the stream was marred by technical issues which did not allow the audio to be clearly heard for more than a couple of seconds at a time.

Trump, using the shortened version his nickname for DeSantis, “DeSanctimonious,” wrote that “DeSanctus TWITTER launch is a DISASTER!” He proceeded to state that his entire campaign would also be a “disaster” and encouraged people to “WATCH!”

He then proceeded to question whether the disastrous campaign launch was “FATAL,” and he argued that it was.

That day, DeSantis announced his long-anticipated bid for the White House. However, his 2024 Republican presidential nomination on Twitter Spaces with CEO Elon Musk did not go as smoothly as he might have hoped as many users were not able to hear the audio from the live broadcast.

Prior to the Twitter Spaces announcement, DeSantis had filed paperwork and posted a campaign launch video earlier on Wednesday.

Trump in his commentary compared the Florida governor’s launch with the campaign launch of Sen. Tim Scott (R-S.C.) on Monday. In it, he praised the senator as having the “best Presidential launch of the week” despite the fact that the microphone was broken. He then called DeSantis’ launch a “catastrophe.”

For months now DeSantis has been in second place in the Republican primary polls, with the latest polling average on Wednesday showing Trump leading by more than 30 points.
