(ConservativeHub.com) – Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, who is one of the 2024 Republican presidential candidates, indicated this past week that there is no proof of former President Donald Trump’s claims about the previous presidential election.

It’s only recently that DeSantis has directly opposed the claims that former President Donald Trump has made regarding the presidential election. In an interview with NBC News this week, DeSantis definitively asserted, “[Trump] lost,” and admitted that Joe Biden is the president. POLITICO also reported that during a recent campaign event in Iowa, DeSantis argued that the election was not conducted in the way he would have liked to see an election conducted, but that it was different from making claims about the election involving Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, for instance.

He proceeded to state that he believes such the theories were “unsubstantiated.” DeSantis had previously avoided answering questions regarding the past election or Trump’s claims. This latest statement by DeSantis comes after Trump was arraigned in Washington on Thursday, August 1 for his alleged role in the January 6 incident.

Still, the election claims were not the only thing DeSantis opposed, as he slammed the Department of Justice for their indictment of Trump last week, claiming that this was a clear case of the federal government being weaponized. He further argued that should he win the White House, he was going to ensure that all Americans are treated justly and that he would replace the FBI director.

Trump pleaded not guilty to the charges against him, and is currently awaiting trial for other cases involving his relation to Stormy Daniels and his mishandling of classified materials.
